AFAEMME presents the report "Promoting Women to Decision Making Positions in Catalonian SMEs" to the Board of FEPIME Catalonia
AFAEMME, the Association of Mediterranean Businesswomen, presented last September 7th, in Barcelona, the report "Promoting Women to Decision Making Positions in Catalonian SMEs" to the Board of FEPIME Catalonia.
This project, which AFAEMME is developing with FEPIME Catalonia, has the support of the Department of Labour of the Generalitat of Catalonia and the European Social Fund and aims to analyze the current situation of women in the labour market and study the results that Catalan companies have obtained after applying gender equality policies.
For the execution of this investigation statistical data on the labour situation of businesswomen and SMEs in Catalonia and in the rest of Spain was taken into consideration. At the same time, AFAEMME also carried out a series of in depth interviews to Catalonian business organisations representatives, from which AFAEMME designed an on-line questionnaire that was answered by a larger number of representatives of SME’s Associations from Catalonian.
The final report, with all the pertinent reviews, will be published on November 2009, and will be available at www.afaemme.org. .
AFAEMME launches the project “Nosaltres Empresàries” directed to the consolidation of companies created and headed by women

Mrs. Beatriz Fernández-Tubau presented on September 8th the first part of the project "Nosaltres Empresàries” (We Entrepreneurs). This initiative aims to consolidate companies created and headed by women and has the support of the Department of Labour of the Generalitat of Catalonia and the collaboration of the Directorate General for Economic Cooperation and New Business Development. This first part consists of business advice, training in entrepreneurial skills and individual coaching.
"Nosaltres Empresàries" is an initiative to support women who individually or collectively have a business project of less than three years and have the potential and willingness to grow and consolidate their company. The second part of this project, which is being co-organized by FIDEM, the International Foundation of Women Entrepreneur, will provide participants a series of mentoring sessions and opportunities for investment. .
AFAEMME collaborates in the organization of the 1st Meda Women Entrepreneurs Forum that will be held in Barcelona in November
The Association of Mediterranean Businesswomen is organizing with the Chamber of Commerce of Barcelona and with ASCAME, the Association of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Mediterranean, the first Meda Women Entrepreneurs Forum that will be held in the Casa Llotja de Mar in Barcelona on November 5th and 6th, 2009.
The main objective of the forum will be to provide a platform for dialogue, exchange of experiences and the establishment of a network that will bring new business opportunities to women entrepreneurs and provide Mediterranean women entrepreneurs an opportunity to make contacts in the key sectors for economic development in the region.
For this event, that also forms part of the Third Edition of the Mediterranean Economic Leaders Week, it is expected the participation of some 300 women entrepreneurs from different sectors belonging to the following countries: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Syria, Palestinian Territories, Tunisia, Turkey, Italy, Spain, Greece, France, Croatia, Germany, Portugal, Slovenia, Malta, Cyprus etc. Delegations of all countries have confirmed the participation of business and institutional representatives.
AFAEMME will celebrate the Association’s General Assembly in November
Coinciding with the celebration of the 1st Mediterranean Forum of Entrepreneurs AFAEMME will carry out, in the afternoon of November 5th 2009, the General Assembly of the Association.
