INFORMATION ABOUT WEDS OF THE SECOND PROJECT PHASE:

WEDs in Jordan took place on the 16th, 23rd and 30th of May and on the 6th of June. There were a total of 102 young women university students participating.

OVERVIEW OF WEDS IMPLEMENTED IN THE FIRST PROJECT PHASE:

On the 2nd of November the Jordan Forum for Business and Professional Women (JFBPW) hosted the first of a series of Women Entrepreneurship Days which will take place in Jordan under AFAEMME's "Young Women as Job Creators" project.

This first WED was attended by 30 young women and 2 young men from 6 partner universities and it was inaugurated by the President of the JFBPW, Ms. Reem Barghouty.

As special guest, the Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Dr. Heike Harmgart, attended the official opening of the WED. She explained to the students the importance of such initiatives and the opportunities that the European Bank provides to support young entrepreneurs. Other participants of the opening were a representative from the Ahli Microfinance Company and some significant businesswomen who shared their professional experiences with the public.

Students participating in this first encounter were absolutely satisfied with the contents of the event as it provided them with an opportunity to express and explore their aspirations, and gave them self confidence and direct support for business start-up.

On the 9th of November, the JFBPW hosted a second Women Entrepreneurship Day.

This WED was attended by 36 students from 5 partner universities, as well as by representatives of the JFBPW and two role models who exchanged ideas with the students and shared their constraints and challenges faced and ways and means of overcoming such obstacles.

Students participating in this second WED expressed their extreme satisfaction with its contents and they highlighted that it has been for them the first time they were exposed to such an activity. They really appreciated that this project wants to listen to them and their ideas.

A third WED took place on the 16th of November. During this last WED 32 students have been trained
