SPAIN WAS FINALLY NOT A BENEFICIARY COUNTRY OF THE SECOND PROJECT PHASE.

OVERVIEW OF WEDS IMPLEMENTED IN THE FIRST PROJECT PHASE:

The Women Entrepreneurship Day (WED) of May 15th was held in Barcelona at the International University of Catalonia (UICand it was especially addressed to women studying technical and /or scientific degrees with an initial interest in becoming future businesswomen, although men were also very welcomed.

Besides from the International University of Catalonia (UIC), there were students from the University of Barcelona (UB), the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), the Politechnical University of Barcelona (UPC), the Open University of Catalonia (UOC), the University of Girona, the University of Lleida, the Rovira i Virgili University and the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), universities which are all members of the Catalan Association of Public Universities (ACUP).

The event has been a great success. After gathering the students' feedback we can confirm that they got highly motivated to start up their own businesses. During the event, they recieved training and coaching for entrepreneurship and they had the occasion to develop their business ideas and to present them in front of other students acting as potential investors.

Those participants who already have a business idea will have free access to the business creation advice services offered by the Catalan Association of Business and Executive Women (ACEE). They will receive support in formulating the Business Plan, in accessing finance and other key issues related to start ups.

The students, Ms. Maria Torres Querol, Ms. Inés Pérez Cañadas, Ms. Blanca Giralt Álvarez and Ms. Gloria Jané Buxó were awarded by the Jury with the diploma for the best business project for their business idea "SAFEDATE". This four students already have an appointment with the Catalan Association of Business and Executive Women (ACEE) to be advised since they really want to start with the project and create their company soon.
